As most of you know, social media is something that will never really die down or fade away. It’s constantly changing and new sites are popping up all the time. Some people are on-top of the social media world, and know exactly when new sites are being added, but others have no idea. Here’s a list of some undiscovered sites that I bet you haven’t heard about. Don’t be stuck in the old ways, stay on top of “what’s new” and become a social guru. Also, discover and start using these platforms before everyone else and start a new trend.
Undiscovered Social Media Platforms
1.) Wanelo
Some of you may have heard of this platform before, but others have not. Wanelo is a social media shopping app and it stands for “Want, Need, Love.” Generally everything that you see on this site, you want immediately and are able to purchase it on the spot. Wanelo is quite similar to Pinterest, but the main difference is that when you click on something you like, such as a shirt for example, it will take you to a site where you can purchase it! You can also create wish lists on Wanelo full of items that you’re interested in, kind of like pins and boards on Pinterest. 2.) SlideShare
Slide Share is already pretty popular when it comes to how many users they have, and it keeps growing in order to be one of the top social media sites. Through this site, users can create slide shows, videos, as well as presentations. Some users compare it to YouTube, but it’s on a more professional level. 3.) Shots
Selfie time anyone? Shots is the new app that is perfectly designed to capture all of your selfies. It only allows you to use the front facing camera, but you can snap any picture you’d like and then post it for others to see. Some compare it to snapchat, but it’s not as private as that because the pictures don’t go away immediately. You can’t comment on other users photos but you are able to chat with them, like you can in snapchat. Shots gives you different aspects of multiple social media accounts combined. 4.) Ello
If you like tumblr or even facebook, this will be the perfect site for you to look into! Ello, allows you to connect with others, share photos, videos, and even written blogs or “statuses.” The main difference between Ello and the other two sites is that they don’t allow ads to pop up. How many times have you been on facebook and had ads continuously pop-up? Probably a bunch. Ello makes sure that this will never be a problem because they aren’t owned by any advertising companies. 5.) Hyper
Hyper is new on the app store! You can compare this mobile app to Instagram because of how it looks and how it is set-up. You can easily post photos to share with others. For posts, you can either upvote of downvote them. The geotag that the app offers, allows you to see what’s going on in your area or other areas so you can see popular posts. Top Oldies but Goodies
Social networking has become HUGE and the everyday sites that we use, have grown more and more in recent years. These sites in particular are continuously on the upper-slope to success, and we don’t see them dying down any time soon. These are always your typical day to day sites that you may use regularly.
1.) Facebook
Facebook is ranked as the top social networking site on the web. With 1.59 billion active users a month, there’s no way that it couldn’t be number one! This site was founded in 2004 by a man named Mark Zuckerberg. Facebook allows you to share pictures, post statuses, and connect with family or friends that you may not be able to see often. 2.) Twitter
Twitter is ranked as the second most used social network. As of December 2015, Twitter had 305 million monthly users on its microblogging site that are active. There are actually 1.3 registered users that don’t really use the site anymore. The social networking site was founded in 2006 by a man named Jack Dorsey. Twitter allows you to share pictures and videos, kind of like facebook but it’s a little different. You are able to keep people up to date on how you’re doing by posting “tweets.” Typically, if someone likes your tweet, they can “like” or “retweet” it. 3.) LinkedIn
LinkedIn is generally used by professionals that are business oriented. The site was founded in 2002 by a man named Jeff Weiner. The use of this site is typically for someone to build their professional profile. It also allows you to stay connected to others and share ideas that deal with business and promotion to yourself. 4.) Google+
Google+ finally came about in 2011 after all the other google sites like Google Wave didn’t work out. People didn’t want a replica site though, so in 2015 a new and improved Google+ came about. Though it’s similar to facebook, it’s no longer the same. Google+ allows you to have friends, but with that you are able to split them into circles. Such as; family, work, friends, etc. That way you are able to share what you want with your different groups and keep other things private. The site officially has more than 2.5 billion users. You would think that this makes it the number one site, but it doesn’t because when you make a Gmail account, it automatically takes you to Google+. So not all of those users are active. 5.) Youtube
YouTube is a very well-known site for watching videos. You can upload your own videos, watch music videos, and really any video you could imagine. Google does take ownership in YouTube, but the site is ranked the second largest search engine. You have the ability to like and share all videos that you find interesting and want others to see.

6.) Instagram
Instagram has grown so much since it first was brought about in 2010. This site is for mobile devices, though you can look at it on your computer as well. Instagram gives you the ability to upload and share pictures and videos , either through a public or private account. You can use the different filters that Instagram offers as well. After your picture or video is uploaded, you then can share it on another social networking site such as; twitter, or facebook. Instagram has more than 75 million active users a day.

7.) Pinterest
Pinterest is ranked as one of the top sites because it is two sided. It’s a social networking site yes, but it’s also a place that people go to search for things that they want to purchase. Pinterest is split up into a pinboards where you can make different categories for different things such as; style, art, wedding days, etc. You can then “pin” what you like and they will go into the categories. Sometimes, these pins will give you a direct link to a site where you can then buy the item that you’re interested in. You also have followers on this site. You can search a specific person or just connect all facebook friends to pinterest and see what friends use the site! 8.) Tumblr
Tumblr is all about blogging. It has become much more popular for teens as well as young adults. You can create and design how your blog and profile look to those who view it. It’s all about how you want to customize it so be creative as you would like! It’s an easy way for you to share you thoughts and interests by reblogging or opening a discussion with your followers. 9.) Vine
Vine is a mobile app that let’s you watch six second videos on a loop. Vine is owned by Twitter, and it’s a very interesting app/site. As said, yo can continuously watch the same six second video on repeat for however long you want. If you’re scrolling on Vine and come across a video that you find funny or interesting, you can like it or you can “revine” it so that your followers can view it also. 10.) Snapchat
Snapchat is an app that is only made for mobile devices, but it’s sill considered one of the top social networking sites. You can take a picture or video and send it to a friend, and it instantly disappears the moment they’re done watching it. You can also instant-message on the site too and like the pictures/videos, the messages will disappear as soon as the other person views it, unless you choose to save the conversation. You can add friends on snapchat and then watch their “stories.” Stories are your own videos or pictures that you can take and then share so that your friends can view it.
